Quinoa Burger

Ahhh…
another one of our alternative burgers!
We are not vegetarians
but we do enjoy alternative burgers
and having several meat free days a week!

I really enjoy Quinoa
So why not make it into a burger?
Yes!
They make delicious burgers
and very healthy for you at the same time!
We found that this recipe make about 12 decent size burgers
We have even frozen half of the mixture
and made the rest of the burgers up later
and the mix freezes GREAT!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups cooked Quinoa (I cook mine in my rice cooker – 1 cup dry quinoa, 2 cups of water, and the rice cooker does the cooking for you!)
  • 3/4 cup Shredded Cheese – we use cheddar
  • 1/2 cup Cottage Cheese
  • 1 shredded carrot or zucchini
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • Garlic to taste – 2-3 cloves
  • Green Onions – 2-3
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • fresh cracked pepper
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • Olive Oil for cooking
  • Your favorite burger toppings!
Directions
Mix all the ingredients together (except Olive Oil). Let the mixture set about 15 minutes. You could make in the morning and refrigerate until dinner time. Heat a skillet to medium with some olive oil. Make the mix into patties. I just grab a 1/4 cup measuring cup, use it to scoop the mixture, plop it into the skillet and use a spatula to flatten into a patty. Cook the patties until golden and then CAREFULLY flip. Cook until both sides are nicely golden.
Yummy! Enjoy! 🙂
