When a walk turns into

I have been trying to take my kids
on a walk every morning this summer
So here is our saga of trying to get on a walk this morning:

I tell all 4 kids
“Let’s go on our walk”
after the Windshield repairman
was done repairing the chip in the van
2 year old
“I need to pee”
Ok – better than blocks away from home and deciding this
10 year old
“I need to get dressed”
Me to 7 year old,
who is also still in Pj’s
“Are you going to get dressed?”
“No, I’m fine to go out in Pj’s”
Whatever, I don’t care,
they are nice Pj’s at least
I take the 2 year old to the bathroom
and get him dressed
while the 10 year old gets dressed
and the 7 year old gets out the bikes and wagon
I then get the baby changed
and into the baby wrap…
In that time
the 2 year old
poops his pants!
REALLY?!?!
He was just on the potty…
Yeah, that is always fun to clean with underwear 😛
Especially with the baby already strapped to me…
So we get that cleaned up
and him in another new set of clean clothes
and we go downstairs
The 2 year old then insists on breakfast
He wants cereal
I am pretty sure he already ate
but I pour him some Cheerios anyway
and tell him he can eat it in the wagon
Then he wants a granola bar to go with it
*sigh*
whatever,
let’s get out the freaking door already!
Then I can’t find the baby’s hat
Not sure what my husband did with it
after our walk last night
I try to call him
No luck
He doesn’t answer….
Probably in a meeting or lab or something…
So I am searching all over for the hat
and the 7 year old comes in
and decides he should get dressed after all…
I can’t find the hat
So I go search for another one
in his drawers..
Score!
I found different hat that will work
The 7 year old is now dressed
The baby is protected from the sun
and we finally head outside
after convincing
the 2 year old to get on his shoes
The 2 year old gets in the wagon with his cereal and granola bar
and as soon as we step out of the garage,
He says
“It is too sunny, I need sunglasses!!”
*sigh*
I have no idea where he left his sunglasses last..
I open the van and
search for his sunglasses,
no avail…
and finally just
convince him just to wear a pair of mine
He was fine with that
*whew*
We FINALLY get out walking
less than a block into it,
The 7 year old turns around and heads back home
“Is the garage open?”
Me: “yes”
“I am going to go switch to my scooter, I don’t want to ride my bike”
At this point,
It had taken so very long JUST to get moving,
I am determined to take this freaking walk!!
We keep walking while he heads back
and then catches up to us
About 2 blocks into it
7 year old
“It’s too hot”
(my weather app says 80 degrees, going up into mid 90s today, which is hot for the NW – thank goodness for Central Air Conditioning!!)
Yeah,
this is why I wanted to get out EARLY
However,
the 10 year old and 2 year old wanted to keep going
like our normal walks
Complaining from both sides ensues…
*sigh*
How about we compromise and
split the difference?
We don’t walk as long as we normally do,
but longer than we had gone
They were all fine with that
Which turned out good,
because then the baby started complaining
on the last block before getting home
He was tired and hungry…
I feel ya baby!
*sigh*
Yeah, that was fun…. 😛
(*sarcasm*)
but now I am laying here with my sleeping baby,
in my central air,
wondering why I tried in the first place 😛
I think it is my nap time now too.
Good thing I ate that cupcake for breakfast!

(oh, yeah… I guess it is good to get out and move our bodies… don’t want them getting lethargic over summer break!)
