Great Wolf Lodge, Washington

We finally made it to Great Wolf Lodge
Our Kids were so excited
They have been counting down
since I made the reservations
Thanks to Groupon 🙂

Thought I would write up a little review
along with prices 🙂
We stayed in the Wolf Den Suite
as it was included in our Groupon deal
Our kids thought the Wolf Den was AWESOME
Would I pay extra for it?
Probably not,
but since it was included in our deal
I think it was worth it to see them so excited about it
In fact,
Our 3 year old and 8 year old
wanted to stay in the Den and watch their TV in there
(side effect of having no tv here at home)
Of course now that our kids have stayed in the Themed Suites
Not sure how they would like just the regular rooms 😛
They already have plans to stay in the KidsKamp Suite next time!
Guess Groupon has to have the deal again 😉
One thing I LOVED about this place
is it is geared toward larger familes
Having 4 kids
Hotel rooms are rarely made for us
but the smallest rooms here fit 6
and I LOVE that!
We checked in shortly after 12:00
and were told we could go straight to the waterpark
You are supposed to be able to get in by 1:00 on the day of your arrival
Have your bags packed
so you can easily get to your swimming suites
(I luckily thought of this ahead of time!)
The one thing they REALLY could improve on?
The “locker” room
It is small
and could really use some more room
and maybe even a few private changing rooms
After changing
we enjoyed the waterpark for several hours
I got a call about 2:00 saying our room was ready
but our kids played until almost 3:30
until they needed a break 🙂
It was a non-busy time
so there weren’t many people
and never more than a 5 minute wait for a waterslide 🙂
One big tip:
We bought these cases from amazon
for our phones
EVERYONE kept asking where we bought them
They fit our phones with the cases on
(mine is an iPhone 5 WITH an otterbox on it, my husband’s is an android)
and there would be enough room for some ID, a credit card, room key, etc.
And it kept them perfectly dry 🙂
Bonus –
We were able to have our phones with us
and take pictures of our kids
without worrying about them getting wet!
(we’ll be using them at DisneyWorld!)
The key to your room is in your wristband
So we were able to go straight to our room
and get dressed
and head to dinner
We had to use our $30 food credit
BEFORE you check out at 11:00
and could only be used at their sit down restaurants
I was a bit disappointed we couldn’t use it on pizza 😛
So we got to the Camp Critter Bar and Grille about 4:20
had we gotten there any later
we would have had to go to the Buffet dinner restaurant
which had a cost of $17.99 for adults and $7.99 for kids
We did NOT realize this and thought we would be able to eat
at this restaurant for dinner as well
(not sure if it always closes at 5? Maybe just when we were there)
So we got LUCKY to get there EARLY
and still get the lunch!
So I would suggest eating dinner early
unless you are SURE they are open past 5:00
or you want to spend that much on a dinner buffet 😛
Kids meals were $5.50
Most the the adult fare
was burgers and sandwiches
ranging from $8-$10
The food was good too 🙂
We ended up spending only $12 with tip
when you consider our $30 credit we got from our Groupon
cheaper than going out to McDonalds
There is a McDonalds,
DQ, Quiznos, and Figaros
nearby
Quiznos and Figaros will deliver!
There is also a Burger Claim restuarant
practically in the parking lot of the hotel
We went back to the waterpark after dinner
and then after playing a bit
got dressed in our PJ’s for Storytime!
All of our kids enjoyed Storytime
10, 8, 3
Well, the 8 month old didn’t care too much 😉
We got there about 10 minutes early
and got a couch and our kids got spots right up front
but it filled up QUICKLY
So get there a few minutes early for a good spot 🙂
It is an animatronic show
and then someone brings a Character out
and reads a story
really fun and a must do for little kids in my opinion!
Then it was off to bed
(or watching TV in the Den for the 8 year old)
In the morning,
We saved money and just had breakfast in our room
there is a Microwave and Refrigerator in the room
so really easy to have some cereal or oatmeal in the morning
I did our souvenir shopping
While the husband and kids ate and got ready…
A week before you check in
You’ll get an email reminding you of your stay
There is a link to coupons in this email
Be sure to print them and save some money!
We hit up the waterpark when it opened at 9:00
no lines for anything
We checked out of our room before
but brought a small bag with us
That had what we would need for the day
be sure to pack your bags accordingly 🙂
Be sure to bring Waterbottles to hydrate!
You can refill at the water fountains
We bought a pizza for lunch
that fed our family
A Cheese Pizza was $13.99
Pepperoni was $15.99
We also got some Nachos
for $3.99
We ended up staying until 5:00
and then our kids were done for
so we headed home
We managed to get out of there
without doing any of the “extra” activities
but I am not sure we will be so lucky on our next trip!
The Wands were VERY popular
and there were kids running around EVERYWHERE with them!
Wands ranged in price for $15.99-22.99
The two different quests each cost $12.99
The Compass Quest – which I believe includes the compass
was $14.99
There was 9 hole mini-golf
and that will set you back $6 per person
There is The Great Forest Challenge
that my 8 year old wanted to try
(but we didn’t get to it… maybe next time)
and that was $10 per person
Will be be there again?
Absolutely!
Our whole family loved it!
I would recommend it for kids 5+
although little kids will enjoy it as well
(since we have a large age range, we always have all ages!)
Our 3 year old
was starting to get upset
that he couldn’t go on the big waterslides
(even though I am sure he would chicken out)
so we may wait to go back until he is 42 inches
(maybe a year? depends on how much he grows this year!)
Your kids will need to be 42 inches to ride the bigger slides
with an adult
So take that into account when planning your trip
They have to be 48 inches to ride the Tornado ride at all
So prepare your smaller kids for this
(our 3 year old knew this, but it was getting hard not to get to go by the end of the 2nd day :P)
This is a great family place
that we will for sure be back to many times!
For $219 (groupon price) for 2 days of family fun
and a hotel room?
I think it was a GREAT deal 🙂
My favorite ride was the River Run
My older kids loved the Tornado
My husband and I thought the blue slide on Alberta Falls was slightly faster
Our three year old braved
the red slide on Fort McKenzie
all by himself 🙂
We all loved the wave pool
the 3 year old liked playing basketball in the pool
and the older ones enjoyed the lilypad/rope course
and of course getting dumped on
by the big bucket at Fort McKenzie 🙂
And there was plenty to do in the little kid area
that our 3 year old was entertained for hours!
Whenever I get my phone back from my son
I’ll be adding some pictures to this post
My 10 and 8 year old getting soaked!
Story time… Hard to spot my kids, but they are upfront
We had this in our room. Not sure if it is offered all the time – probably during the less busy periods? I am glad I didn’t book a 2nd night if we were offered a second night for this cheap 🙂 I w as VERY tempted to take them up on this offer!!
