“Let Him In” Key Necklace

I am pretty excited about these! I made these necklaces and bookmarks for the YW in my ward for Christmas. It will be their Christmas present for the year.

I Love skeleton keys – I think they’re pretty cool! I saw ideas on Pinterest with keys on ribbons, basically as a symbol to remember to let Christ in. I thought this was a great message for Christmas!

I found that you could buy Skeleton Keys on Etsy really inexpensively. They also have Skeleton Keys for cheap on Amazon as well! I actually really like the selection on Amazon better. Lots of options. I also picked up the leather necklaces on Etsy. They were like $.50 a piece. They also have them on Amazon, 20 Cowhide Leather Cord Necklaces Black 17 Inch with Extension Chain and Lobster Claw Clasp. Or you could look at Leather necklaces or Suede necklaces. Amazon has so many inexpensive choices!

I had recently purchased 36 pc 1/8′ 3MM Letter & Number Steel Stamp Die Punch Jewelers Set from Amazon.  I really wanted a project to do with them! So I picked up some round stamping blanks like this:  10PCs Silver Tone Stainless Steel Round Blank Stamping Tags Pendants 20mm and decided to add them to the skeleton key necklaces with the words “Let him in” stamped on it.  I also picked up some jump rings,  400 Jump Rings, Silver-plated Brass, 6mm Round, 18 Gauge to attach the tags to the necklace. It worked well because I also needed the jump rings for some of the Keys, because the holes on the top of the keys were too small for the leather necklace. I also have enough rings for several other projects I may come up with! 🙂 (prices change on Amazon often, so look around if the prices on some of these items have increased)

I pounded “Let Him In” into the round blanks and attached a jump ring, then attaching it to the necklace. I really liked the way they turned out!

I then quickly whipped up these bookmarks with Lyrics from a Michael McLean Song to give to them with the necklaces

Here is a link to my bookmarks for free, if you’d like them as well – there are 2 per 5×7 picture. Just cut in half!

There were about 14 different styles of keys in my set.

This one needed a jump ring to be attached to the necklace:

This one I simply pulled the hole on the key. It gives the necklaces a different look, being attached in different ways, so the girls can have some variety in their necklaces.

Here are 4 of the 14 different styles with the different ways that I attached them to the necklace.
