Philly sloppy joes

This has been a popular dish around our house for years! I originally got the recipe from Rachael Ray, but changed it up a bit that works better for us!

I was never a fan of Sloppy Joes as a kid, until I discovered our delicious homemade Sloppy Joes. I really enjoy this recipe, because it does not have the tomato base. I am not a big tomato fan, and even though I love my homemade Sloppy Joes, I really enjoy the difference this recipe brings to the table. Plus provolone cheese! Mmmmm… Cheese….

If you love Sloppy Joes and Philly Cheesesteaks (Mmmm… the only place to get Philly cheesesteaks is in Philly – I’ve tried them in different cities and it’s not the same! I am looking forward to going back to Philly this summer!), give this recipe a try – they are delicious!

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound hamburger or ground chicken
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1/4 cup steak sauce
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • Montreal Steak Seasoning
  • Provolone Cheese
  • Hoagie Rolls/Hamburger buns

Directions:

Cook the burger, onion, and Montreal steak seasoning in a skillet until meat is browned. Add in the steak sauce. Stir. Add in the beef stock. Cook/boil until the broth is no longer visible – making your meat juicy and delicious! Divide the meat between your rolls. Top with a slice of provolone cheese. Place under the broiler until cheese melts.

Enjoy!
