Felt Nativity

Felt Nativity

I am so excited about this project. I saw it on Pinterest and knew I had to make it. I love Nativity sets. My mom always collected different sets from all the different countries we lived in and visited. I have my own collection and love adding to it. Nice sets, kids sets, random/fun sets. I just love nativities.

I like getting or making nativities that are safe for my kids to play with. I have a few from Bolivia and El Salvador that are in need of repair, after kids have played with them. I now have a kids nativity table, full of nativities that my kids can play with (like the Playmobile and Little People Nativities, among others). This is now added to our wall for the holiday season!

I got the templates from this website. Why re-invent the wheel when someone else has already done a GREAT job and is letting you use it for free!

Then I simply needed to buy the felt. It is easiest to buy a multipack from AmazonFelt Sheets. I had some leftover from another project, so I just made do with what colors I had, but I would have loved some of the fun colors in those felt packs – plus it is much cheaper than buying each color separately! Then you just need one big sheet of brown for the stable – easiest to get at your local fabric store or Michael’s (I had a 50% off coupon for Michael’s, so I used that). The size of my stable is about 30 (the top of the stable) by about 40 inches.

Then I simply used the templates, cut out the pieces, and used Hot Glue to put all the pieces and people together. It was a fun and not too difficult project to put together. Plus my kids love it! It was time-consuming to cut out all the pieces, but from start to finish, it only took about 2-3 hrs. Then I simply taped up the stable to the wall with some painters tape (masking tape would work as well!) and let the kids have fun arranging it!

Now onto my next felt project! I’ll hopefully have it finished this next week and get it posted! I may need some more hot glue….
