Mary’s Peak

Another of my favorite hikes is up Mary’s Peak. I like it because it is not too far from my house and it is an easy hike for kids. We have taken our kids as young at 2-3 and they easily hike up this trail – they might just go slow! They like to explore the bugs along the way too!

You drive up the mountain, almost to the top. There is a great view just from the large parking area. You can only do this hike in late spring, summer, or early fall – otherwise, it is covered in snow. Once you park in the parking lot, the path up to the top is just off the parking lot.

You do gain quite a bit in elevation on the hike, but it is gradual, so it isn’t too difficult. Once you get to the top – took us about 20-30 minutes with a very slow 3 year old – you will get some AMAZING Views. On a clear day, you can see to the coast to the cascade mountain range. You should be able to see the Three Sisters, Mt. Jefferson, and Mt. Hood on a very clear day (We saw it on our last visit).

Seriously AMAZING 360 views of the coast to the cascades – the view is amazing, especially for how easy of a hike it is! Your kids will feel quite the accomplishment when they make it to the TOP of a mountain and are above the clouds!

So if you are looking for a fairly easy hike for kids with a fabulous view as your reward, I highly recommend heading up to Mary’s Peak!
