I was so excited to see President Monson speak this morning in General Conference. I have been worried about him since last conference. He only spoke once or twice during the last conference session. For me, I noticed the change from him speaking each and every session of conference. I noted the change, missed hearing his stories, and I have worried about him since.
I can’t imagine what he’s been going through the last few years. He lost his wife a few years ago – the person he has lived his life with, the person he talked to, he leaned on. The last few months, he has lost 3 of his close friends and fellow apostles. Things in the world are changing rapidly. He has to endure hearing and seeing people come to General Conference with the sole purpose to oppose him in person. It has been a hard few months for this dear, sweet man.
As I was watching him this morning, I loved his powerful words. When I saw his strength start to falter, I wanted nothing more than to stand behind him, raise him up, and pass my strength onto him. Hold him up. I got nervous. I was on the edge of my seat and praying he would be alright. I wanted him to finish his message to us – it was important enough that we needed to hear it.
President Monson has given his entire life in service to the church. When I think of all the responsibilities within the church he took on at such a young age I am in awe. I love hearing his stories in each of his talks. He is a sweet and wonderful person, who I believe only wants the best for everyone.
President Monson, you are loved. We will hold you up. We will be there for you. Don’t we all wish we could have been physically standing behind him to hold him up, to carry him – like he has always done for us? We may not have been there physically, but President Monson, we were there for you in spirit. I know many prayers were said in your behalf.
We will be there to hold you up, to support you, to pray for you, and to love you. We are grateful for your leadership and lifetime of service to all of us. Thank you for all that you do and will continue to do.
