I have to admit, I am not a seafood person. I don’t like to eat fish – which is unfortunate living in the Pacific Northwest! However, I do enjoy shrimp and lobster. While I have never made lobster at home, we make shrimp at home ALL THE TIME. I can pick it up at the grocery store for around $5lb, which is not as cheap as chicken, but we don’t eat it nearly as often! 1 lb feeds our family too. Pair it with a box of pasta and some french bread and you’ve got a fancy dinner for a family of 6 for about $7-8. Not too shabby!
The best thing about shrimp, is that it cooks REALLY fast. You can have dinner done in about 10 minutes or less. So easy and fast to make! Tip: Dip your bread in the shrimp butter/garlic that you cook the shrimp in… You’ll thank me later 🙂
We used to buy the Lipton Savory Herb with Garlic in the grocery store, but we were unable to find it in our local stores anymore. Then I found it on Amazon for around $1 a box shipped (using Subscribe and Save discount and a coupon that was available. Amazon prices change often. So check often or see if your local store carries it). When we couldn’t find it, we would just use garlic and other herbs, but we never quite got the same exact taste of the Lipton Savory Herb with Garlic (however, it was still good!), so I was thrilled to pick it up on Amazon again.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 – 1/2 cup butter – depending on how saucy you like it. You can also use a mix of butter and olive oil
- 1 envelope of Lipton Savory Herb with Garlic or use a mixture of garlic and herbs of your choice
- 1lb of PEELED, deveined shrimp – any size of your choosing
- Pasta or Rice
Directions:
Heat the Butter/Olive Oil in a skillet over medium-high. Add in and stir the Lipton Savory Herb with Garlic envelope or your mixture of garlic and herbs. Add in your peeled shrimp. Cook about 5-10 minutes, or until they turn orange on each side. Done. Serve with some pasta- I used a box of Angel Hair pasta that cooked while I was making the shrimp, or serve over rice (equally as delicious! We eat it with either!). I like to serve with some French bread and then dip my bread slices in the butter/garlic that the shrimp was cooked in (so make with extra sauce if you would like that!)
Yum! Eat and enjoy a fancy dinner with your family, that is inexpensive and super easy to make!
