Did I ever mention on here
that I lived in El Salvador, Bolivia, Brazil,
and visited places like Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica,
and Nicaragua growing up?
Well, Dulce de Leche
is one of my favorite treats from there
Used in may treats and desserts
It is oh so good
and REALLY easy to make
There are many ways to make it
in the oven,
on the stovetop
You basically just need to heat
Sweetened condensed milk for a long time!
That’s it!
Easiest way to make Caramel ever!
My new favorite way to make it?
In the crockpot!
Crockpot Dulce de Leche!
My husband picked up one of these mini-crockpots
a few years ago on Black Friday
and it works perfectly for this
Just take a can of Sweetened Condensed Milk
(NOT evaporated milk!)
rip off the label,
cover it with water,
and I turned it on high for about 3-4 hours
(I didn’t pay close attention)
I am sure low for 6 hours would work as well!
Open the can and you’ll have a golden, caramel,
Dulce de Leche!
YUM!
Now I could just eat it right out of the can
but you could use it for any recipe that has caramel in it,
top ice cream, waffles, cakes,
Really,
the possibilities are endless!
Now I totally forgot to take a picture
of it when it was done…
Yeah,
I put it on the cake too fast
and then licked the can out….
I guess I’ll just have to make it again
so I can get you all a picture of the finished project!
The things I do for you all 🙂
Crockpot Dulce de Leche
Delicious and easy to make!
