I totally forgot to take a picture of the individual bars – oops! Oh well! The pan will have to do… Until I make them again 😉 (of course I’d have to remember to take a picture next time…)
I enjoy payday candy bars. Even though there is no chocolate, I enjoy the sweet and salty goodness. I have made these bars before, but just now getting around to writing the recipe.
If you like caramel and nuts, you’ll like these bars! You can use any kind of nut you’d like, peanuts being the classic of course. I like using toffee (which is the kind in these) or honey roasted, since they are my favorite flavor of peanuts!
My husband and I may have eaten most of the pan before telling he kids about the treat. Benefits to being the adult (and him working from home!)
Ingredients:
- 1 14oz can of Dulce de Leche or make your own with sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2 cups mini-marshmallows
- 1/2 cup creamy Peanut Butter
- 2-4 cups peanuts – any flavor
Directions:
Make your dulce de leche, if you didn’t buy pre-made. Line a 9×9 or 12×8 pan with foil or parchment paper. Spray with cooking spray. Spread half of of your peanuts in the bottom of your pan.
Melt the butter in a medium sauce pan. Add in the marshmallow and melt. Whisk in the dulce de leche and peanut butter until combined. Slowly pour the mixture over your peanuts. Use a spatula or smooth out. Sprinkle the rest of your nuts over the top. Refrigerate 2 hours or until bars are set. Cut into bars and enjoy!
