Eating out when traveling with a big family: Catering Menu

One of my favorite travel hacks we recently discovered is to order from the restaurant’s catering or party menu. It is a great way to save money and not have to eat fast food or pizza your entire trip!

With the increased availability of online ordering and carside to go, this is easier than ever to do!

This is fantastic if you or your kids don’t want to sit in a restaurant for a meal but you want restaurant quality food. You can take the food to your hotel and let your kids chill – especially if they have been traveling all day! – or to a park and let them run and play!

The restaurant will usually give you plates and silverware. Using the party platters is often WAY cheaper than ordering everyone their own separate entree at $10-18 a piece!

For example, last time we were out, we ordered this family feast from Claim Jumper:

It included Salad, Cheese Bread, and cookies for only $30!!! It was enough to feed our entire family too (only 6 were eating). Best of all, I had my $25 Birthday reward to spend, so it only cost $5! No waiting and sitting with the kids at the restaurant and we got a fantastic meal! Called up, ordered, picked up, and brought back to the hotel while the kids swam!

When we picked up the meal, the hostess was impressed we were able to find that meal! She said so many people have no idea it exists and what a great deal it is for people picking up food to go!

Well, now you know! Look at the catering menu or party platters! Usually works out great and cheaper for parties over 4. Most chain restaurants have them, just check on their availability (As it varies by the restaurant!)
