I apparently left out a few details on my last post about moving…
So while we were looking at houses, Joseph’s boss of over a decade unexpectedly got fired. This was a complete SHOCK, to say the least. He and the entire team have been pretty close and after working with someone for so long, it took quite a while to get our bearings. After so many years at HP and their layoffs, this was completely unexpected at the new company. Immediately we wondered what this would do for Joseph’s job. Through meetings and talking with management, we decided things would be fine. However, another one of his co-workers quit over this entire mess. It was a rollercoaster few weeks!
Joseph then took a different job within the same organization. Well, this leads to quite a bit of stress learning new things, trying to get his feet under him (still is), and figuring out what the heck he was doing. Many sleepless nights. Throwing in the stress of moving across the country wasn’t exactly needed at the moment.
The school years are different here and in Florida. We were under the gun to get a house and moved right away, so they could start high school there. Had it just been an elementary school or even middle school, it’s not as big of a deal as high school. Our daughter was being inflexible about schooling and doing online school until we got settled/into a house, so it made things just more difficult to work out without messing up her schooling. If she had been more flexible, we would probably still be moving. We pretty much got down to the last week we could possibly make it work, when we decided it was all too much. I didn’t want to pick this house just because it was our last option before we ran out of time. Too much pressure and I was afraid of choosing/making the wrong choice just because we were out of time. A big, expensive house is a large investment and I didn’t want to pick one just because it was our last option.
So there are are a few more details about what went into our decision.
We now have a drafter making up plans to modify and do some construction on our house! So we are making changes around here slowly!
