Glen Canyon Dam

Another fun surprise stop on our trip was to Glen Canyon Dam. We were stopping in Page, AZ for the night after Bryce Canyon. It was meant to just be a pit stop, so I hadn’t looked into the area much – except I knew about horseshoe bend (which we didn’t get to – the kids were tired and there was construction at the parking lot). As we were driving into town, we saw the Glen Canyon Dam and Visitor’s center. We quickly checked into our hotel and drove back to the Visitor’s center before it closed.

The visitor’s center was GREAT! I wish we had gotten there early enough to take a tour! The kids had a great time playing in the visitor’s center and there were spectacular views of the Dam and the bridge! We learned about the Dam and they had several interactive exhibits.

We sure were stumbling onto some great surpise stops during this trip! Sometimes not overplanning turns out great! Make time for a Tour of the Glen Canyon Dam if you’re in the Page, Arizona area. It may not be as “instagramable” as Horseshoe Bend – but your kids will probably enjoy it more!
