Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park – you have my heart! You, along with Olympic National Park, are my favorite National Parks so far!

On the way to Bryce Canyon, you pass through these rock tunnels in Red Canyon. When we return to Bryce Canyon someday – and we WILL! – I want to plan some time to explore the Red Canyon area too!

We get to Bryce Canyon and it is SNOWING! It is almost April. Apparently, it is either snowing or HOT there. We didn’t want to go during summer, because many people warned us about the heat. So we thought we’d try spring… Well, it was still snowing in Spring!

Alas, due to snow AND The Government shutdown a few weeks earlier, they hadn’t been able to keep up with snow removal at the park. Therefore, most of the trails were closed. Bummer. I really wanted to explore the area. Guess it just means we HAVE to go back!

All the view points were open though! We did find a few icy areas on paths and a kid may have slipped on some ice – but otherwise, wasn’t too bad.

The Visitor’s Center had a cute little museum too that the kids enjoyed!

The first stop – Sunrise Point – was not that exciting. To be honest, when seeing it, I was underwhelmed. I was a bit worried we wouldn’t be able to see much with all the snow.

The second stop – Sunset Point -was SPECTACULAR! THIS is was I was expecting to see here. Seriously AWE inspiring! This is also a great place to see “Thor’s Hammer”

The Third Stop – Inspiration Point – was probably my favorite with even more spectacular views, including the Wall of Windows. Such beauty! The kids were simply captivated by the beauty of it all.

Before we left, We went by the Mossy Cave Trail. The Ranger told us to be sure not to miss it. It was an easy trail off the main road – actually outside the main part of the park. Due to the time of year, there were GIANT icicles in the cave. It was amazingly beautiful!

Check out my Instagram posts for details and pictures from each stop!

Bryce Canyon, we will be back again someday! Hopefully when its not too hot, but not snowing too – any idea when that would be? Maybe early October? Then we can hike around and explore this BEAUTIFUL park some more!!
