Red Rock Canyon

We almost didn’t go to Red Rock Canyon. The night before it was on our agenda to go, I slipped getting into the Lazy River at our Condo and badly hurt my foot. It swelled really good and it hurt to walk. I am fairly certain I broke at least one toe.

The next day, It hurt worse, however, I didn’t want to miss the chance to visit and I knew that you could just drive around most of it, so we decided to go and get the kids out of the Condo for a bit (they’d been swimming all day… and went back to swimming when we got back!)

We were able to get in for free with our National Parks annual pass – seriously, that is worth the money for us!

The Visitor’s center was pretty cool! The outside exhibits were lots of fun and worth the trip itself. Plus Tortoises! It was fun to try and find them. After playing at the visitor’s center, we drove the 13-mile scenic drive.

I would have LOVED to do some hiking around here. It seemed like there were several easy hikes for kids, but since the Visitor’s Center was difficult enough for me to walk around, we didn’t even try to do one.

Even without being able to hike, you can see many gorgeous views from your car and the viewpoints! It was great even with a bum foot that I couldn’t walk on! We really enjoyed our visit and I’m glad we decided to go even with me barely being able to walk. If you are headed to Vegas, be sure to put this on your list as it is just outside Las Vegas and a very short drive!
