Another stop, while we were in The Gorge, was The Dalles Dam. Now, I either went to a different Dam as a kid, or they have changed it quite a bit (apparently they did after 9-11), because it was LAME.
Seriously, it is not worth a stop. They don’t really do tours of the dam – except on Saturdays and you have to be over 18. So basically it is just a visitor’s center. You don’t even see any fish. Their website advertised seeing fish, but we saw none – unless you count the little aquarium they had in the lobby?
The kids did do some Junior Rangers and got badges -so it wasn’t a total loss. We ate lunch across the street, so we were in the area anyway, but I don’t think we will bother to come here again. Just a warning, don’t go out of your way to come to The Dalles Dam. Worth it if you need a bathroom break, otherwise, don’t bother stopping here.
