This Buffalo was one of the first things we saw when we entered Yellowstone! I was really hoping we’d see wildlife, but it is never guaranteed, so I was thrilled it was one of the first things we saw coming into the park!
We headed to Old Faithful first. We got there in plenty of time for the 9am-ish eruption. We had front row seats with hardly anyone around us! It was amazing to see that famous geyser erupt in person! Wonderful experience for us and our kids!
After watching Old Faithful, We walked around the entire Geyser basin! If you can only do one thing at Yellowstone, this is really worth the time. The paths are all very accessible too. Actually, Yellowstone is probably the most accessible park we’ve been to! Everything was so easy to get to and see, even with strollers. We REALLY LOVED that about Yellowstone. So easy for people of all abilities to enjoy!
After checking out the geyser basin, we were back by Old Faithful around the time of the next eruption (11am-ish) and the area was PACKED! There were people everywhere and it was hard to see anything. We were so glad we came early when there was no one around! I highly suggest getting there EARLY and enjoying it before the crowds.
As we headed out to our vehicle, we also noticed there was no parking left. We had gotten a very close spot – since it was so empty – but just a few hours later, packed to capacity. We got to our van and had people waiting to take our spot (and they had to wait a while because it takes forever for us to load up into our car! and then everyone needs a snack, drink, etc.)
I HIGHLY suggest the entire Old Faithful geyser area when visiting Yellowstone, but get there EARLY to enjoy before all the crowds arrive! I am so glad we got to take our kids to experience this amazing piece of Nature/America!
