Mickey Mouse cake

Mickey Mouse cake

My son wanted a Mickey Mouse cake for his 4th Birthday. We have made Mickey Mouse cakes before, but we always like to do different ones.

I look at the pictures of this, and get slightly bothered by the frosting on the bottom layer. I had put the characters on the cake and was about to take pictures, when my 4-year-old came in and declared they were all in the wrong spot. He proceeded to move the characters, messing up the frosting in the process. Doh! Oh well! It is his cake – I guess he can put thing where he wants them 😛

Anyway, The bottom layer is just a 13×9 sheet cake or brownie.

The round cake is simply a cake mix that I baked in my pyrex bowls that I use for mixing. Make sure the bowl that you use is oven safe! It probably won’t take an entire cake mix. I think mine only took about 3/4 of a cake mix. I used the rest of the mix and made some cupcakes!

The ears were really easy. I melted some chocolate chips and poured the chocolate out onto some greased wax paper in a circle shape. I placed a Popsicle stick into the chocolate, making sure it was covered in chocolate and you could not see the stick. Place about half of the stick in the chocolate. Let it harden. Once it was hardened, I used a glass cup to cut the ears and make a nice, clean-cut on the ears. Any circle will do to cut it.

Then we used my delicious Buttercream Frosting to frost both cakes. The base cake was in orange, because my 4 year olds favorite color is Orange.

Then place the bowl cake onto the 13×9 sheet cake. Then simply stick the ears into the bowl cake, thanks to the Popsicle sticks.

We got the characters at the dollar store. Then just used some writing gel to personalize the cake

Really easy to make and my son LOVED his cake!
