After a very quick night’s sleep at home, we got up early and headed to the Columbia River Gorge. Since we managed to get through Portland early before traffic was horrible, we had time to stop at Multnomah Falls.
Now, I have driven by Multnomah Falls probably a thousand times in my life. I think we have stopped like twice. You can see it from the freeway if you didn’t know. It is the most visited natural recreation site in Oregon, probably because it is so close to Portland and easy to access from the freeway.
Since it was before 8 am, there wasn’t really anyone around. The parking lot was mostly empty and the Lodge wasn’t even open yet! So if you want to see the Falls with no one around, go before 8 am!
Multnomah Falls is always a beautiful stop, even if you only stop for 15-30 minutes. Easy to access and even the trail up to the bridge is fairly easy to navigate.
